Its Canadian Thanksgiving.
My family is sleeping. The quiet of the house gives me a few minutes to really reflect on what I have to be thankful for.....
I'm not going to bore ANYONE by listing those things.
I played hockey Friday night. We (the Strathmore RCMP Men's hockey team) won. That makes us 2-0 for this season. Pretty darned exciting considering that we went just around .500 all of last year. I got dumped going to the net by some large limited intellegence defenseman. I've got the bruises on my back to prove it.
Hockey being back inspired me to get my son a pair of skates and a helmet. We did just that Sarutday morning at Sports Swap in Calgary. $42.80 later, and we were off to the Strathmore Arena(s) to enjoy the Alberta Centennial free skate afternoon. It didn't really go all that well. In fact, he ended up laying on the ice 'eating snow'. Small steps I suppose.
Remember the chicken recipie I had offered up? I prepared it Saturday evening for a couple we are friends with. It was a smash hit!!! I highly recomend it. We also enjoyed home-made Marinara sauce on angle hair noodles, and fresh broccoli. For dessert, a store made coconut cream pie.. Not home made but delicious none the less.
Dirk brought a lovley six pack of Vancouver Island Brewery's Pipers Pale Ale, and Nancy a pumkin bannana walnut loaf. I'm enjoying that with my morning coffee. My wife has given me strict instructions that I wasn't to go to Tim Horton's for coffee this morning. Something about "the second you leave, your son wakes up and is looking for you" Its now 9:00 am, and they are both still sleeping. I feel a bit ripped off.
Ah yes. I almost forgot. Today being Turkey day. We are hosting my brother-in-law's family and my mother-in-law for turkey dinner. Its a great day! I get to suck him into helping me move a fridge to the basement!!!
My next task for this morning is to modify the web pages for the SRFD. Have to include our 86th and 87th calls and post the old rescue truck as being off the market.
Tommorow, I am off to Houston for the week. Details to follow.
